Dillon Cassar and Lisa Bezzina gave their best ever performances since the Intersport 10k Series Three Cities Edition race was launched in 2017.

Cassar’s performance saw him deliver his best time on this flat and fast course finishing the race in 30 minutes fifty four seconds.  Joining the fray in Sunday’s race were running supremos Charlton Debono and Andrew Grech. The duo battled the course several times and their return, following a short absence meant that they were vying for a top placing. In doing so they gave Cassar a good run.   The trio were not short of competitive action with the likes of Matthew Scicluna and Matthew Xuereb.

Cassar shot out at the start line to assert his position in front and kept a strong and determined pace till the very end. Cassar beat Debono and Grech‘s stiff competition, both of whom fought until the finish line, where only three seconds separated Debono’s second place to Grech’s third.

Lisa Bezzina’s took the race in her stride and aiming to set a female’s course record.  Her timing of 36:51 did so, an improvement of over four minutes from her first participation in 2017. Behind Bezzina was Denise Borda who finished in 40:08, whilst in third place was Francesca Arrigo who also made a welcome return. Arrigo finished in 41:48.

In the 5k Race, Neil Brimmer took the honours, clocking a time of 16:36. He was followed by Keith Galea who finished in 17:03, whilst newcomer Joseph Meilaq finished in third place, 29 seconds behind Galea.

Rosalie Cauchi, who only very recently took up road running after many years in competitive women’s football, took top billing winning the race in 19:03. Forty seconds behind her was Hayley Acreman followed by Charla Pia Vella who completed the course in 20:27.

Prizes were given out by Race Director Charlie Demanuele to the top three male and female winners of the 10k and 5k races.
